Post Freeze Galveston Bay Complex

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

The recent several days of freezing temp’s in and around Galveston bay has showned no effect on speckled trout or redfish. The water surface temp reched the lower 40’s. The past few days the temp has reached 58 degrees at the surface. Fish show no signs of any mortaility.

West Bay holding fish near Mecom’s, Green’s and Confederate……………….
Trinity Bay holding fish near the river and in Jack’s Pocket.
As well as in Scott’s and Burnett Bay……………

East Bay holding good fish over 25 inches on the north ridge

Best baits are soft plastics and Corky’s. Colors like limetruse, plum, cajun pepper, pearl and black.
Keep the bait on or near the bottom. Speckled trout and redfish holding in near 4-6 feet over shell or mud.

Be sure and layer up. Winds can reduce air temp by 4-8 degrees. Wind chill is just like surface temp. All ’s cold if you not prepared.

Look foward to your visit at the upcoming Houston Fishing Show-March 3rd till the 7th………….@ George R. Brown.

God bless you and family
