Guide Fishing East Galveston Bay

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Recent days are showing signs of structure being removed by contractors. In addition, they are placing yellow pvc poles near additional underwater structure for boaters to avoid.

Wade and drift fishing has been excellent to work the south shoreline from Marsch Pt to Sievers Cut.
Stay in 4-5 feet of water while running. This may help avoid sub-surface structure. When you decide to fish, slow to idle and move toward the shore or start your drift pattern.

Lots of mullet and shad showing location of feeding spec’s and redfish. Some slickin’ helping as well.

Water temp is mid 60’s. Better bite mid-morning to late afternoon.

Top water action great using She Pups and Baby spooks in either chartruse or black with silver flash
Drifting with redshad or plum……………..Using The Green Rod from FTU-6′6″, light action with Sufix green braid in the 30 lb test for that sensitive bite.

More after this cold front moves out this weekend.

Galveston Bay Fishing

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Folks…………

These past few weeks have been anything but commonplace. Ike left her mark for decades to come.

TP & W has not found any evidence of a fish kill or toxic water, other than the oil and gas found in and around the bay. The water’s still have some floating material……………………………… They indicate it’s safe to eat these fish.

We have been able to catch near limits of redfish and good numbers of spec’s,. Birds are in both East and Trinity Bay. Using soft plastics and gold spoons.

Colors are dark like plum, black or pumpkin seed. 1/4 or 3/8 oz lead.

Leave after daylight, and have others in your party to pay close attention to any floating material in the water.

God bless and take a friend or family member fishin; We all need a little TLC……………….

god bless
